One of Metro's objectives in our Strategic Plan 2011-2013 is to develop and sustain effective and comprehensive partnerships. Metro has set a target to increase partnerships by 5% each year, meaning that by 2014 40% of tenancies provided will be through our Support Partnerships program.  As at 30 June 2010,  28% of our properties were allocated to support partnership nominations.

Metro Community Housing has partnerships with a number of community based agencies who provide a range of support services to their clients through the Transitional Housing programs. Transitional Housing programs offer tenancies for periods between 3-24 months. This period provides secure and affordable accommodation whilst offering tenants an opportunity to develop independent living skills or return to study/employment before tenants exit into more permanent accommodation.

The categories of people in transitional housing we are currently assisting are:

  • Women and their children leaving refuges
  • Young people (18-25) leaving refuges
  • Single men exiting residential drug and alcohol programs
  • People who were formerly homeless or insecurely housed
  • People with a mental illness
  • People with an intellectual disability
  • People exiting the criminal justice system

Our Current Partners include:

  • Biala (Aftercare Support service)
  • Central Sydney Area Health and associated Community Mental health teams
  • Erskinevilla Youth Housing
  • Neami – Way 2 Home
  • Jean's Place Women's Refuge
  • Jewish Care
  • We Help Ourselves (WHOs)
  • YWCA Family Support and Domestic Violence programs
  • Community Restorative Centre (CRC)
  • Mathew Talbot Out Reach Service
  • The Marian Centre
  • Mudgin-gal Aboriginal Corporation
  • Oasis Youth Service
  • St Louise Lodge
  • Stepping Out Support program
  • Uniting Care – Supported Living Program
  • Theba Young Women's Housing Program

Metro community housing is currently reviewing our partnerships and is looking to expand the range of partnerships to work with identified priority target groups. If you are interested in discussing a partnership with Metro please phone Amy our Partnership Project Worker on 9560 5331.
