Introduction of Housing Pathways
On April 27, 2010 major changes will be made to the way people apply for social housing (public and community housing) in NSW. A new system called NSW Housing Pathways is being introduced across the state.
The major changes are:
- There will be a new waiting list called the NSW Housing Register. This Register will be created by combining all clients listed on community and public housing lists into one single state wide list. This will replace separate waiting lists kept by different housing organisations. All new applicants interested in both types of housing will be added to this common register.
- It will be the same application form to apply for public housing, community housing and Aboriginal housing owned by the Aboriginal Housing Office.
- You can contact Housing NSW or participating community housing providers to apply for social housing or change the details on your housing application.
- You can get an offer of housing from either Housing NSW or a community housing provider if you have registered interest in both types of housing.
