Metro is a not-for-profit members co-operative providing long term, subsidised accommodation to people on low incomes.

The Co-op is registered with the Australian Charities and Not-for profits Commission (ACNC), and is also endorsed as a Deductible Gift Recipient (DGR)

Our Board of non-executives Directors bring experience and qualifications in the fields of law, accounting, finance and strategy, organisational and human resource management, development, disability advocacy, community support and lived experience of insecure housing. Metro’s constitution stipulates that we have between six and 10 directors on the board.

The Board’s role is to oversee effective governance and financial viability of the Co-operative. In conjunction with Metro’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO), the board sets and monitors the organisation’s strategic direction, and ensures that we meet our regulatory and financial requirements to remain a registered co-operative and not-for-profit organisation.

All of our tenants are encouraged to become Members of the Co-operative
